Emerson Network Power Customer Trinity Information Services is Awarded AFCOM’s Data Center Manager of the Year Award
Implementing Emerson Network Power’s Avocent data center solutions enabled Trinity’s data center facility manager to decrease utility consumption and significantly reduce cost

Roberts of Trinity Information Services has been
awarded the 2011 AFCOM Data Center Manager of the Year award. Recognized for outstanding leadership and excellence in the field of
data center management, Roberts was selected based on his implementation of a
hot/cold aisle containment solution that resulted in a 10 percent decrease in
utility consumption, saving over $5,000 per month.
AFCOM's Data Center Manager of
the Year Award recognizes data center employees that embody innovation,
organization, versatility and ambition. Roberts was selected because he is an
effective leader, runs a highly efficient data center, works well under
pressure, possesses strong communication skills and keeps up-to-date on the
latest technologies in order to maintain his company's edge.
Tom Roberts' responsibilities
include the facility and infrastructure readiness of three corporate data
centers and 25 hospital-based computer centers for Trinity Information Services
in his 29 years with the company. He also handles capacity planning and asset
management for all the equipment located in the data and computer centers. His
current projects include evaluating the readiness of the hospital computer
centers for the continued rollout of common clinical, financial, and ERP
applications for all Trinity hospitals. He also makes short- and long-term
strategic plans for all of the data and computer centers, which will ultimately
involve consolidations and regionalization of the centers. Prior to working in
healthcare, Mr. Roberts worked as a master electrician in the electrical
construction field for 11 years. He has been president of the local Michigan
AFCOM chapter for seven years and a member of the Data Center Institute board
of directors for six years.
